I need a tip on how to fet a few bolts loose?
I need to get the oil pan off of my 1993 Ford Probe GT and that means that I have to take off my exhaust pipe which means that I have to take off some sort of support beam which blocks the exhaust pipe. I put a 17mm socket on one of the six bolts, followed by a wrench and a bar that I used for some extra leverage. When I turned the wrench, it broke off in the socket. What should I do to get the bolts loose?

You are describing the frame cross member that holds the engine and transmission in place. First of all use liberal amounts of penetrating oil (like WD40) on the bolt/nuts. Use a good name brand (like Craftsman) 1/2 ” breaker bar and a 17 mm hardened six point socket. Use your pipe to extend the leverage but apply constant pressure than back off. What you want to have happen is to get the penetrating oil to get down into the threads. Sudden moves just break things. With patience and the right tools you can get these loose. They are buggers because they are subjected to heat and road corrosion. Good luck!
