what is common to a nuclear localization signal and an ER signal sequence?
A. they are short amino acid sequnces that help some protiens to be targeted to proper cellular location
B. they are found in all protiens that are synthesized on rough er.
C. they are recognized by importin or exportin.
D. They are short amino acid sequences added to the protiens after they enter into the nucleus or er.
I believe it is A, b/c they are short amino sequences. Cant be D b/c they dont follow that sequence..i think..but it could also be B, b/c they all get tagged for movement around the cell by the ER. Please help.
A. they are short amino acid sequnces that help some protiens to be targeted to proper cellular location
The rough ER does not translate the nuclear signals. It localizes material to other compartments.
Importin and exportin are only for nuclear proteins.
The sequences direct proteins to the location; they are not added on arrival.
