Spyder TL-Plus Paintball Gun troubleshooting…?

Hi All,
Need some help with troubleshooting my TL plus. It was working fine for about 700 paintballs (I do target practice with it only, I need tips on more accuracy but thats later). I took it apart at about 500 cleaned and lubricated it. At about 700 paintballs something strange happened. When I pulled the trigger (it is a semi-auto), it would fire one shot, but instead of the bolt re-cocking it would kind of go full, closed, 3/4, closed, half, closed, quarter, closed, then close fully. It sounded kind of like a submachine gun. Ive tried to take it apart and gave it a quick cleaning and checked for anything that may be wrong and im clueless. Any tips?

You’re low on gas is all. There’s not enough air pressure to recock the gun.

*sigh* Barrels… accuracy… Again *sigh*

Ok, here’s the deal with paintballs, they are a sphere, they are VERY hard to make truly ‘accurate’. The higher grade the paint the more accurate it will be, but you need to balance your budget to. Frankly, most players, will play with ‘accuracy by volume’ theory, that says that if you fire 5 paintballs instead of 1, your chances of hitting the target increase by 5

Barrels, they don’t do much. A longer barrel will, at best, use more gas (the paintball needs more gas to physically push it out of the longer barrel). If you REALLY want a barrel that ups your accuracy you have to buy a whole barrel kit, that gives sized barrels (these are usually either two piece barrels, the tips are sized from .67 to .69, sometimes more, caliber to be matched to the paint). You then need a paint sorter to sort each and every paintball you use the night before you use it. Match the paint to your barrel. This will increase accuracy but still requires tournament grade paint, plus the added time in sorting through 2-3 boxes of 2000ct paint.

All in all, if you really want to be more accurate, invest in higher quality paint, get a delrin venturi bolt, etc. Make a barrel your last investment. You could also look into playing with a pump gun (Autococker with a CCM pump kit, Phantom, hell even a Blade). It won’t have a high fire rate, but the closed bolt will be VERY accurate.
